Women before the war of World War 1
Before the war of world war 1, women lived in a male dominated society and had the only job of cleaning the house and tending to the children. That was until world war 1 began in 1914, were there was a large gap in employment because of the large amount in men going to war, so in response women took on many of the roles the men used to have in society which was a massive change in society in many countries in the world. The images above resemble posters for women to join the many jobs presented after the men left to go to the war. World War 1 also played a significant role in developing women's political rights, because before the war women didn't really have much role in society other than playing the role of the house tender and children tender.

Women had many jobs during World war 1 including, nurses, ammunition factory workers, sewing bandages, and selling war bonds, shipyards and spies. Another massive change in society was that the first Women's Royal Air Force was created, which is where women worked on the planes as mechanics. Women also volunteered to join the VAD's (Voluntary Aid Detachment) and FANY's (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry) as nurses to nurse and do medical treatment on the wounded soldiers. Some nurses even went to the front line to aid and care for the wounded soldiers in the battles. Image 2 above explains and depicts one of the jobs that women had during the war as it show's you what they did in the factory.

How World War 1 Affected Women
World War 1 affected many women around the world including, in 1918 British women over 30 got voting rights. Two years later, in 1920 the United States granted voting rights for women over 30 as well. By 1950 women could vote in 69 countries; by 1975 women could vote in 129 countries. Today women have the right to vote almost everywhere except for a few Arab countries, such as Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. New horizons and new roles have opened up for women, thanks to the effect of World War I. Many also worked as nurses , and they served in hospitals in the U.S. and overseas and had to follow the soldiers to the front and help them when needed, they needed help all the time. Those nurses who did serve as nurses were in the countries Belgium, Italy, England and on troop trains and transport ships. Army and Navy Nurse Corps, women served valiantly throughout the war, many received decorations for their service.
With growing numbers of men joining the British armed forces during the First World War, the country was desperately short of labor. The Government decided that more women would have to become more involved in producing food and goods to support their war effort. This included the establishment of the Women's Land Army. Some farmers resisted this measure and in 1916 the Board of Trade began sending agricultural organizing officers around the country in an effort to persuade farmers to accept women workers. This strategy worked and by 1917 there were over 260,000 women working as farm laborers.
